Early Christmas present for EUROPEADA 2024: The Danish Parliament's Sydslesvig Committee has granted project funding of DKK 1,119,000 for the European Football Championship for autochthonous and national minorities, which will be held in the Danish-German border region from 28 June to 7 July 2024.
"We are grateful that the Sydslesvig Committee has met the needs of SdU and SSF. This ensures a good financial foundation for EUROPEADA. At the same time, it is important that EUROPEADA receives financial support equally on both sides of the border", says Jens A. Christiansen, Secretary General of SSF, who together with SdU was behind the application, which has been granted in full.
"I am incredibly happy about the generous grant. In terms of finances, we are now really well on our way. It should not be forgotten that we have started a lot of things in a very short time. And now the different pieces are starting to fall into place," says Anders Kring, Director of SdU.
Earlier this month, EUROPEADA received the welcome news that financial support is also coming from the political side in Berlin, Germany.
In addition, the first cities and districts south of the border as well as municipalities north of the border have agreed to fund the 5th edition of EUROPEADA.
Together with FUEN, the umbrella organisation for minorities, the Danish minority in Germany, the German minority in Denmark, the Frisians and the Sinti and Roma in Schleswig-Holstein will jointly host EUROPEADA 2024.
