The state government of Schleswig-Holstein is supporting EUROPEADA 2024 with 150.000 euros - Minister of the Interior Sütterlin-Waack and Minorities Commissioner Callsen jointly presented the funding decision.
"EUROPEADA has been held in Europe every four years since 2008. In the meantime, it has developed into a major event in which the concerns of Europe's minorities are highlighted in a playful and unifying way. We are very happy to support this great event and we are proud that Schleswig-Holstein, together with Denmark, is able to host the many participants in this colourful major sporting event in the border region this year,’ said Sabine Sütterlin-Waack (CDU).
Together with Johannes Callsen, the Minister-President's representative for minorities, the Schleswig-Holstein Minister of the Interior, who is responsible for sport, presented the organisers with a grant of 150,000 euros as part of the directive on the promotion of sporting events in Schleswig-Holstein.
"I am delighted that the minorities in our region are making EUROPEADA a fantastic event with so many sporting and cultural activities. I wish the teams of the Danish minority, the Frisian ethnic group and the German minority in North Schleswig every success in the tournament and all participants a good time on and off the pitch,’ said Johannes Callsen, Commissioner for Minorities.
EUROPEADA is organised by the Federal Union of European Nationalities (FUEN). The organisation of the 5th edition of the event was awarded to the Danish minority in Germany, the Frisian ethnic group, the Sinti and Roma association in Schleswig-Holstein and the German minority in Denmark.The tournament will take place from 28 June to 7 July and the venues in Schleswig-Holstein are: Flensburg, Harrislee, Schleswig, Eckernförde, Tönning, Bredstedt, Niebüll and Risum-Lindholm.
