This team is representing the Slovaks in Hungary, one of 13 recognized minorities of Hungary, living mostly on the border to Slovakia. The presence of the Slovakian minority on this territory goes back to the Middle Age. During the 9th and 10th century the territories inhabited by Slovaks were part of Great Moravia, before being assumed by the monarchy of Hungary. After World War I and with the contract of Trianon, most of the territories, inhabited by Slovakian speaking people were attributed to the Czechoslovakia. But this could not prevent, that territories with Slovakian minorities remained in Hungary. Around 18.000 people are today part of the ethnic group.
